Infants
The infant room
A loving, nurturing room where every baby grows at their own pace. Snuggles, songs, sensory play and first milestones.

Two-year-olds
Twos
Classroom spots for two-year-olds. Ask whether there is room in the twos class.

Ages 3 to 5
Preschool and pre‑K
Hands-on, child-led learning, and a foundational pre‑K year before kindergarten.

School age, up to 12
Summer care
A summer program for school-age children, with weekly water days on the playground.
Openings change through the year. Call or email to ask what is available for your child's age.

A Step Above is a home away from home for our students. We make learning exciting through a hands-on approach. Here is some of what that has looked like:
- Spring 2025
The pre‑K class hatched baby chicks in an incubator and watched them emerge from their shells.
- Summer 2025
The Clay County Health Department visited to teach handwashing, with “germs” that glow under a black light.
- Summer 2025
The pre‑K garden's harvest: one cucumber and two radishes.
- Summer 2024
The Mid-Continent Public Library, Smithville Branch, brought its summer reading program to the school. Children earned a free book when they reached their reading goals.
- Summer 2024
Weekly water days, and one afternoon a rainbow over the playground.
- Fall 2024
Pumpkins and mums from the Smithville FFA.
